It is said that Hardiwar (along with the three other sites, Ujjain, Nasik and Allahabad) is the location of where one of the four drops of Amrit spilled – known as the elixir of immortality. The specific location where it is believed to have fallen is at Har ki Pauri, which translates to “footsteps of the Lord.” This spot is considered the most sacred of all ghats in the city, and its presence brings in tourists, photographers, and students from all corners of the world.

No matter their age, race, background or religion, Hardiwar’s visitorscome together in unity to appreciate the large movements that have taken place here. A common practise by tourists is bathing in the River Ganges, believed to wash away people’s sins. Beyond its religious importance, Hardiwar is a continuously developing city, branching out to serve locals and travelers with significant shopping, festive celebrations and expansive buildings and architecture. Visit today, and witness the rich blend of timeless, touching tradition and religion mixed with the oncoming of a new generation and era.
